“Mallard cottage was the perfect place for us to spend a few days resting and relaxing before Christmas. Angela is the perfect host, everything you could possibly imagine was provided, and the little touches around the house were fantastic. We can't wait to go back in the future!”

“Angela and Arthur met us on arrival, made sure we had a car parking space, gave us a full introduction to the apartment, and were generous with provisions and goodies for us to enjoy. Mallard cottage is so well-appointed; the bed is very comfortable, the shower is great, and the lounge and kitchen were perfect (we cooked two nights). They also have really thought about the small things, the finishing touches that will make your stay a pleasure (like quality linen). Mallard cottage is a half-mile walk from the centre of Holmfirth, which has a nice selection of restaurants and bars, and Angela made a good recommendation on where to eat on our first night. The cottage is a lovely quiet haven to return to after a busy day. We highly recommend Angela and Arthur as hosts!”

“Fantastic accommodation, nice touches, lovely welcome basket, plenty of tea and coffee, and a warm and welcome house at the end of a busy day on the moors. The hot tub was a great addition to soak away the aches of the day. Well located close to the town and the open countryside; a great place to stay. Holmfirth has a lot of places to eat and drink, all within a seven-minute walk of the house.”

“We stayed at Mallard cottage for three nights. When we arrived, we were greeted by Angela who showed us around the cottage. It was very clean, cosy, and warm. Angela had left us some delicious cakes, a hamper, and fresh essentials (milk, eggs etc). There were lots of nice touches throughout the cottage, like high-quality toiletries, candles, slippers, and bathrobes. We loved having the log fire, and the hot tub and super-king-size bed were an added bonus! The cottage is a short walk to the centre of Holmfirth, where there are lots of good restaurants and bars. It is also a great location for walking. We had a fantastic break and would love to stay again!”

“Absolutely fantastic stay at this place - really enjoyed it. It's quite tucked away, but that means peace and quiet, which was very welcome. The place was exactly as described by Angela and is only a short walk into town - although the return journey is unfortunately uphill! Holmfirth is very nice, but the surrounding countryside is absolutely beguiling. Pull on your boots, acclimatise yourself to the climbs, and get out there. Mallard cottage is a superb retreat for when you return.”

“We had a fantastic time here. Angela met us to show us to the cottage and we arrived to a wonderful hamper full of goodies for us and even for our dog, Murphy! The cottage was a great location in the beautiful village of Holmfirth, and we enjoyed some wonderful walks nearby with our dog. I would definitely recommend this cottage and we will most definitely be going back to stay.”

Samantha

“Angela was great straight from the booking, asking of any requirements that we had for our stay. When our plans changed at short notice, she was very accommodating, changing her plans to get the cottage ready for our earlier-than-planned arrival. Overall, a great stay with an awesome hot tub and cute additions like a little hamper and homemade cakes!”

“We had a very relaxing stay in Holmfirth for my partner's birthday. Angela was lovely from the minute we booked, and even let us know the roads were icy near the cottage when we text her to say we were setting off. Check-in was informative but not too long. Angela showed us round the cottage, how to use the hot tub, and gave us other helpful information, such as local walks. The cottage itself is lovely; It has everything you need for a home away from home. The hot tub is really relaxing after a day out walking and the log burner is perfect for a cosy night in front of the TV. The welcome hamper was a fab gesture and my partner's birthday present was a very thoughtful gift. We definitely plan to return to Angela's cottage and will be recommending it to family and friends. Thank you for a fab weekend.”

When I saw that Angela was offering frontline workers to stay in her properties I couldn’t believe my luck. I’m an NHS nurse working on the front line during the Covid 19 pandemic.

Mallard itself is a wonderful little cottage located in a beautiful place. The garden is spacious with the added bonus of the hot tub, and is so peaceful and quiet. The lounge is comfortable and warm with a large TV and log burner. The kitchen has everything you need. Upstairs the bedroom is lovely, the super king size bed is so comfy.  I can’t thank Angela enough for her kindness  during these difficult times. Would definitely recommend staying at Mallard for whatever occasion you’re looking for. Lovely cottage with a 5* host."

We absolutely adored out stay at Mallard Cottage, such a lovely little gem tucked away! Angela was the perfect host, we arrived to a lovely hamper and I even had a birthday card and gift waiting for me which we thought was simply wonderful, lovely little touches including the ducks on the hearth which were named after me and my partner. The cottage was spotless and smelled fresh. We loved it so much we booked to return in December (whilst still at the cottage!) Simply outstanding!  The hot tub is a must, even in the rain we spent most of our time in it bubbling our troubles away, the new Covid restrictions were in place and our whole experience felt safe, a much needed break away!
